Minimum Requirements for Police Officer

Below are the basic minimum requirements for being a police officer in the City of Bel-Ridge.

Age Must be 21 years of age, or must turn 21 by the date of hire.
Missouri POST Certification  Must have a Missouri Class A Certification at time of appointment.
Education  Must have a high school diploma or GED equivalent.
Vision  Minimum standard is 20/200 in each eye correctable to 20/20 in each eye.
Residency  Must be a citizen of the United States.
Drivers License  Must possess a valid Missouri State Operators License.

Interested individuals that turn in an application for employment with the City of Bel-Ridge police department can expect the follow process:

  1. Pre-screen review of application
  2. Written test
  3. Background investigation
  4. Civilian/Department interview
  5. Chief’s interview
  6. Physical examination    (done at BarnesCare, paid for by the City)
  7. Offer of employment
